To download Mega Mario, you need to head over to the website HunoPPC – Playing with your Amiga and find it there. You can also use the download link below to grab it directly.
Once downloading has finished, access the download directory and right-click on the appropriate icon. Select “extract to” and then choose a destination drawer for Mega Mario. The game will unpack and once done, you can enter this directory and double-click on the icon. The game will then start (you might get a requester asking you to assign, but it works just pressing “ok” on these).
Now, what kind of Mario game is this?
It is a clone of Super Mario Bros. 1 and it sports the original features. Graphics has been improved with higher resolution, smoother movement and new levels.
As you can see from the screenshot, the story is quite simple. During the last fight, Luigi got kidnapped by Bowser, and Mario has to find a way to get his brother back.
Controls are straight-forward, just like in the original game. Use the arrow keys to move left and right, “space” to jump and “CTRL” to run or fire.
Let’s have a look at some screenshots of the game.
I also gave the clone of the original a try, which you can see below.
I also tried other game modes..
To sum it all up, Mega Mario is a good platform game for AmigaOS 4. It offers a clone of the original Super Mario Bros., but does also feature additional levels and ways to play. Graphics looks good and controls are easy to learn and get to grips with. The game is free and installation is unproblematic. All in all, I think it was a good experience playing Mega Mario. 🙂
Thanks for reading this review and for visiting my blog. Hope you too will enjoy the game if you decide to download it. 🙂
